  • LAYING LOW

I am quietly working away on another record. Have had a few sessions in the fabulous M15 Studio in Hoorn with engineer Jeroen Tenty in the past 12 months. Multi-instrumentalist Madelief van Vlijmen has been my constant collaborator in all of this and I feel lucky to have someone so great to work with. Working alone is ok for a while but geez what a relief to be capturing musical interaction & connection. Where it’s at. I have also been working a bit with producer and percussionist Gino Bombrini in the Flow Like Water studio that we are building up together in an old farmhouse just outside of Deventer. Zlaya Loud is back in the saddle mixing and mastering what Ive been sending to him in the meantime. So on the collaboration front all is well and the wheels are rolling. Live performances have been on the back-burner as I consolidate and collate what has gone to tape so far. But…new music is coming soon and I’m happy with both the process and the result. On the live front I am both curating and performing at the up coming OVER YONDER Subterranean Music Festival in Wageningen in October. 2025. I will also be returning to Australia for a show or 2 in December and have just been invited to the Orkney Island Folk Festival, which is happening in May 2026. That’s without even trying too hard. Back to the studio!
  • Playing the Country Star album

Just played a bunch of shows in Australia with Madelief van Vlijmen on bass and Ebgert de Jongh on guitar. This shot is from a killer gig in the old town hall in West Kempsey on the Mid North Coast of NSW where I grew up. Cattle country, big rivers, big scrub and big beaches. I never really left, not inside anyway. We sold the show out and it was big deal for me to go back and play there.
